This panda was inspired by the a life-threatening bout with cancer. According to the artist, "I went through three tough years of cancer treatment from 1996-99. When I completed the last radiation [treatment], I felt I needed to celebrate. So I painted a big painting in oils, but using my hands so the message would come straight from my heart. It turned out to be a very green painting of trees leaning from a strong gale on top of a mountain. This represented my standing firm through all the invasive chemicals poured in my body. Green for rebirth. I called the painting Miracle. My panda wears the Miracle painting on his front and back."
